Welcome to our website.

We hope that you will find lots to interest you here.

Sutton Theatre Company is our local amateur drama group.  We are a lively, friendly group of people, who love the theatre and have a lot of fun getting shows together and putting them on stage.  We are based at the Trusthorpe Village Hall, Trusthorpe, which is on the East Coast in Lincolnshire, between Sutton on Sea and Mablethorpe.

New members are always welcome, so if you would like to tread the boards, or if you are interested in set building and decorating, stage lighting and sound engineering, costume design and sewing, or front of house activities such as making endless cups of tea and coffee, do get in touch. You will find that, to us, enthusiasm is just as important as expertise and that experience, though desirable, is not essential.

Today the costs of putting on productions have risen enormously. We all work very hard, trying to involve the local community in the arts, so new members are always welcome.  Just come along to our shows and see what we do.  You might just be tempted to join.  Our annual membership fee is £6.00 for adults, and £1.00 for young people under 16, and this is usually paid in September.  However shows and trips are all open to non members.

We have members of all ages – actors, backstage workers and front of house staff, all doing our best to keep live entertainment going and to have a lot of fun in the process.  Some of the people you might meet are pictured below.

Every year we stage two main productions plus a panto’. Whenever possible we like to tour our shows around local village halls.

We also try to take part in the Sutton Carnival and to arrange entertainments such as Murder/Mystery evenings, variety shows, concerts and so on, trying to raise money for local charities along the way.

Another of our activities is to arrange trips for our members and friends to see professional theatre, to enable them to see how the experts work and also to have a pleasant day out.

Shown here rehearsing furiously for

"Cut And Run," by Peter Horsler, are Avril Kelsey, Glenna Betteridge, John Fulwood, Liz Coldicott, Ann Knott, Robert Watson, Anne Baker and Cliff Fox.  This is a hilarious comedy, highlighting the conflicts which could occur between Public and Private Health. Altruism and innocence battle against fraud and blackmail in this quiet (!) National Health Clinic.  See "About us" for a full report.
